Birth Story Listening

The story of your birth deserves a witness.

Some birth stories settle easily into memory. Others stay close to the surface for years. Ivy & Rill offers a gentle, guided space to revisit your experience, explore what still feels unfinished, and discover what your story might have to say now.

What birth story listening is

Not therapy. Not a medical debrief — a witness.

Birth Story Listening is a guided conversation that helps you revisit your birth experience with curiosity and compassion. Together, we follow the threads that feel important, explore the moments that still carry meaning, and create space for whatever your story wants to reveal.

Begin with your story

Share what happened and what brings you here. Together we'll identify the moments that feel most important to explore.

Follow the threads

Through gentle questions and guided reflection, we'll slow down and revisit the experience, paying attention to emotions, body sensations, beliefs, and meaning.

Discover what emerges

Many women leave with greater clarity, self-compassion, insight, or a new relationship with their birth story — though every journey unfolds differently.

Who it's for

If you carry a birth story, it belongs here.

You don't need the "right" kind of birth story to benefit from this work. Stories that felt joyful and empowering deserve to be celebrated. Stories that felt frightening, disappointing, confusing, or unfinished deserve a careful witness too.

Whether your baby was born six months ago or sixteen years ago, it is never too late to listen to your story.

Your listener

Meet Christine Rollings

Christine Rollings, birth story listener, seated and smiling warmly at the camera

Christine Rollings is a birth story listener, writer, and mother based in Calgary, Alberta. She was drawn to this work through a lifelong belief that stories shape the way we live our lives — and through her own experience of carrying a birth story that took time, care, and attention to understand. Having experienced the power of being listened to in this way herself, she became trained in Birth Story Listening through Birth Story Medicine.

With a background in counseling and a writer's ear for what a story is really about, Christine offers a gentle, unhurried space for people to explore their birth experiences. Rather than analyzing or fixing a story, she walks alongside each storyteller with curiosity and care, helping them notice the threads, meanings, and moments that still feel alive.

Christine is also the author of the children's book My Barista ABCs and has spent much of her adult life helping people learn, reflect, and grow through conversation. As a mother herself, she knows that the journey into parenthood leaves its mark — and that being truly heard can sometimes be the beginning of finding steadier ground.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Is this therapy or counselling?

No. Birth story listening is its own practice — a space to be heard rather than treated or advised. It can sit alongside therapy beautifully, but it isn't a substitute for mental-health care. If something heavier surfaces, Christine will gently help you think about further support.

Do I need to have had a traumatic birth?

Not at all. Many people come simply because their birth still lives vividly in them and they want to tell it in full. Difficult births are welcome here — and so are joyful ones worth honouring out loud.

How long ago can the birth have been?

There's no time limit. A birth from last month or fifteen years ago can both be told here. Stories don't expire, and it's never too late to be heard.

How do sessions take place?

Privately, by video call, so you can be somewhere comfortable wherever you live. You'll receive a link when you book.

What does it cost, and in what currency?

A 60-minute session is $120 USD and a 90-minute session is $200 USD. You can preview the price in CAD, GBP, EUR, or AUD using the selector above; billing is in US dollars.

Can my partner join?

Yes. Some people tell their story alone; others want a partner present, or book their own session to tell it from their side. Just let Christine know what you have in mind.

Ready when you are

However your birth went, your story deserves to be heard.

Tell it once, fully, to someone who's truly listening — and see what settles.
